Cristiano Ronaldo was named on the shortlist for this year's FIFPRO World Eleven, however, this appears controversial.

Ronaldo named on FIFA's FIFPro Men's Team of the Year

Cristiano Ronaldo is among the nominees for the forward position along with Benzema, Haaland, Lewandowski, Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar. In addition, there are other nominees for the goalkeeper position (3 players), defender position (8 players), and midfielder position (8 players). FIFPro will announce the 11-member best team lineup at the FIFA Awards ceremony on February 27th.

The appearance of the Portuguese superstar in this list of nominees has caused heated debate, as CR7 had a year in 2022 that could not have been worse.

Ronaldo ended the 2021-2022 season with 24 goals for Manchester United but did not win any titles. The second half of 2022 was a crisis period for the striker. In the first 16 matches of the 2022-2023 season, Ronaldo only scored three goals for the "Red Devils."

After publicly criticizing the club and manager Ten Hag, the Portuguese striker lost his position at Man Utd and was later released by the club.

The number 7 superstar was also disappointed in the Portuguese national team at the 2022 World Cup, contributing only one goal. Earlier this year, C. Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Nassr.

Interestingly, many players who performed better than C. Ronaldo, such as Vinicius Jr, are not on this list. The Brazilian star scored 22 goals in the 2021-2022 season, helping Real win both La Liga and the Champions League.
