Real Madrid were determined to chase after the league leaders Barcelona, as they defeated Valladolid 6-0 at Bernabeu in the 27th round of La Liga. Striker Karim Benzema shone with a hat-trick.
Real Madrid went into the match against Valladolid with immense pressure as Barcelona had just won 4-0 against Elche to widen the gap between them to 15 points. In their previous round, Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in the El Clasico and had very few chances left to win La Liga.
Receiving Valladolid at Bernabeu, Real Madrid dominated from the start and controlled the game. However, they showed some uncertainty in defense and nearly conceded after a shot by Roque Mesa hit the post.
In the 16th minute, Real Madrid created their first dangerous chance when Benzema's shot hit a Valladolid defender and bounced off. Real Madrid attempted several long-range shots but neither Vinicius nor Tchouameni succeeded.
Real Madrid's pressure paid off in the 22nd minute. Asensio made a speedy dribble and passed to Rodrygo who ran free on the right wing and accurately shot into the far corner, opening the scoring 1-0.
Seven minutes later, Vinicius passed the ball low for Benzema to score a header and double the lead. In the 33rd minute, Benzema made a skillful dribble past the Valladolid defense before accurately shooting to raise the score to 3-0 for Real Madrid.
At the 36th minute, Benzema completed his hat-trick with a beautiful diving header, closing the first half with a score of 4-0. With the hat-trick scored in just 7 minutes, Benzema became the first player to score 3 goals in the first half for Real Madrid.
Rodrygo continued to make an impact with an assist to Asensio, increasing the score to 5-0 in the 73rd minute. In the final minutes of added time, Lucas Vazquez confidently scored the sixth goal, securing a 6-0 victory for Real Madrid. Despite the win, Coach Ancelotti's team remains in second place in La Liga with 59 points, trailing the league-leaders Barcelona by 12 points.
