Top 5 players may leave Manchester United this January 2023

1. Jadon Sancho

Players Leaving Man Utd

Sancho has returned to training at Man Utd after a period of training alone in Holland. Coach Erik ten Hag is concerned about the player's readiness in terms of physical fitness and mentality. He did not participate in Man Utd's training camp in Spain during the World Cup and, although he has returned to Carrington, he is still believed to be training alone.

The former Borussia Dortmund star is clearly struggling after his 73 million pound transfer in the summer of 2021. Since then, Sancho has only scored 8 goals in 52 appearances He is a part of Ten Hag's plan at the beginning of the season but now feels like it will be a while before he can regain a starting lineup spot. Especially with Alejandro Garnacho being promoted to the first team and making an impression.

Sancho may benefit from leaving Man Utd to rediscover all the talents he has shown in the Bundesliga.

2. Harry Maguire

Maguire may have played in Man Utd's final match, the win against Bournemouth, but he is no longer in the first-choice center-back pairing. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are the ones Ten Hag has chosen in defense and the 80 million-pound English star is often left on the bench.

The club captain has lost his spot in the first team after just two games in the season following defeats to Brighton and Brentford.
He has played 12 times on all fronts for Man United in this campaign and impressed at the World Cup in Qatar. However, the 29-year-old player may not be satisfied with being on the bench and is rumored to be leaving. Club legend Rio Ferdinand has urged him to leave and Maguire has been rumored to be pursued by Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa.

3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Wan-Bissaka joined the club from Crystal Palace in 2019 with a transfer fee of 45 million pounds, along with 5 million pounds in additional fees. Despite plans to make the 25-year-old player a long-term right back for Man United, his days at Old Trafford seem to be numbered.

Ten Hag prefers Diogo Dalot at defense and Wan-Bissaka has only played 5 times this season. He should have left in the summer but the club couldn't agree on a replacement so he stayed. His contract will expire in 18 months, although there is an option to extend it for another year. A return to Crystal Palace is being considered, as well as the possibility of a loan move to West Ham.

4. Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay has been at Manchester United since age 5, but he may leave in January. The Scottish star has lost his starting spot due to the emergence of Casemiro. The Brazilian player has formed a great partnership with Christian Eriksen in midfield and Fred can also support them.

Man Utd has been linked with names such as Frenkie de Jong and Enzo Fernandez in recent months.
For the club to have enough financial ability and space for those potential contracts, McTominay may have to give way.

5. Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial is currently enjoying playing time on the field, playing in the number 9 position following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite Martial's positive performances, Man United is looking for a new striker. Goncalo Ramos, Joao Felix, and Memphis Depay are rumored to be on Ten Hag's shortlist.

With a tight budget for this month's transfer window, Man United is looking at loan deals. However, if they sign someone permanently, they may raise funds by selling Martial. The 27-year-old player joined Man Utd in 2015 from Monaco with a transfer fee of 36 million pounds and since then, he has met additional clauses worth 15.4 million pounds for goals scored and national team appearances for France.
