With a 2-0 victory over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, Man Utd has become the champion of the 2022/23 season. After a five-year gap, the Red Devils have added another trophy to their collection.
Manchester United won convincingly with a 2-0 scoreline against Newcastle to become the Carabao Cup champions. The goals were scored by Casemiro and an own goal by Botman. The Carabao Cup 2022/23 is the first trophy for coach Ten Hag and Man Utd, ending a five-year drought of titles for the Manchester-based team.
The starting lineup for Man Utd at Wembley didn't have many changes from the lineup that defeated Barcelona during the week. Coach Ten Hag only made two adjustments, with Dalot replacing Wan-Bissaka in the right-back position in defense, and Antony taking Sancho's place in the attacking lineup.
After the opening whistle, the match was played tightly, with both teams defending in numbers whenever the opponent had the ball. This made the first half of the game not have many real scoring chances, with goalkeepers De Gea and Karius having a relatively easy time.

After the break, Man Utd played defensively and counterattacked, causing Newcastle to become stuck. Howe's team didn't have the sharp attacks needed to penetrate the tight organization of Man Utd's defense. In addition to good defensive organization, Man Utd's counterattacks also posed a threat to Newcastle's goal, but they were unable to add any more goals to their lead.
