Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag admitted that the chance of successfully appealing the suspension of midfielder Casemiro is very low. Casemiro received a 3-game ban in the English Premier League for his behavior in a match against Crystal Palace.
Before the Man Utd vs Leeds United match at 3:00 AM on 9/2 in the Premier League, Coach Erik Ten Hag admitted: "Still, for me, it's not the right decision [to send Casemiro off] but I don't think we have a chance in a legal process.”
Casemiro was determined to have committed a violent act when he elbowed an opponent in Man Utd's 2-1 win against Crystal Palace in Round 22 of the Premier League. According to the rules of the English Football Association (FA), the Brazilian midfielder will be suspended for 3 games in domestic competitions.
After the match with Leeds United, the Brazilian midfielder will continue to be suspended for the game against Leicester City on 2/19 in the Premier League. Casemiro will return when Man Utd faces Barcelona in the first leg of the Europa League playoffs.
With Casemiro suspended and Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek all injured, rookie midfielder Marcel Sabitzer is likely to get a chance to play by Coach Ten Hag in upcoming games.
Manchester United has also compiled a roster for the Barcelona match in the Europa League. Three rookies, including goalkeeper Jack Butland, midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, and striker Wout Weghorst, have all been registered for this match. This roster will remain unchanged from the playoffs until the end of the tournament.
Erik Ten Hag's Europa League campaign will resume on 2/17 when Man Utd plays the first leg of the playoffs against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. The second leg will take place later.
