Casemiro only needed two shots to score his first double for Man Utd, helping the team beat Reading 3-1 in the FA Cup Round Four. Coach Erik ten Hag rated him as an "excellent player" and "capable of playing both offense and defense."

Not only did he score goals, but Casemiro also created three opportunities for his teammates to score against Reading. The 31-year-old midfielder dribbled twice and intercepted the ball four times, achieving a 100% success rate. "Casemiro is very important to us because he is smart and wise," the Dutch coach added. "He holds his position well, knows what to do with the ball, and is also very creative.

After Casemiro's double, another Brazilian midfielder Fred increased the score to 3-0 for Man Utd with a close-range shot from Bruno Fernandes's clearance. With Antony, all three Brazilian players scored in this game and they were praised by Ten Hag. "We scored wonderful goals thanks to the connection between the Brazilian players," he said. "Antony is also improving and today he delivered a wonderful pass for the opening goal."

Since the 2022 World Cup, Casemiro has scored three and created four goals in 10 games for Man Utd, a better record than other defensive midfielders in England. He has received additional praise from former midfielder Roy Keane. "In recent months he has been very dangerous when elevating the attack, from decisive passes to killer crosses," the former Man Utd captain said. "Of course, Casemiro also does well in defense, truly a top-class player."

Man Utd easily wins to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup, but receives bad news as midfielder Christian Eriksen has to leave Old Trafford with an injury. He was injured after a tackle from striker Andy Carroll when the referee didn't show a card. However, Carroll later committed consecutive fouls to receive two yellow cards in five minutes, resulting in his dismissal.

Casemiro, Eriksen, and several other Man Utd key players may recover for the next match against Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final on Thursday, 2/1. Man Utd will play at home with a 3-0 lead from the first leg.
