"We will not give up, I promise that," Klopp said after the loss at The Amex. "If things look like this, then I apologize. We will try and continue to improve. The body language of some players has improved greatly. In the previous game, we lost completely. But today, no one will be surprised if Liverpool wins."

On The Amex field yesterday, Liverpool started well and opened the scoring with a cross-corner goal from Harvey Elliott. But then Brighton equalized through Lewis Dunk's goal in the 39th minute and decided the game with spontaneous processing by Kaoru Mitoma in the second added time of the match."

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat across all competitions and continues to have a disastrous season. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League, 21 points behind leader Arsenal and are former champions in both the League Cup and FA Cup. The Champions League remains their best chance for a title, but they will face reigning champions Real in the round of 16.

Despite their disappointment at being knocked out, Klopp was pleased that Liverpool played better than in their 0-3 loss to Brighton in the Premier League on January 14th. "I'm not overly thrilled, but today's performance was much better," said the German coach. "We had our moments and will continue to take steps and improve."

Andy Robertson also agreed that Liverpool played better than in their loss to Brighton two weeks ago, but acknowledged that their situation is becoming increasingly difficult. "We need to find a winning rhythm, which is easier said than done," said the Scottish defender. "This season, Liverpool has played poorly. We wanted a fresh start at the beginning of the year, but that didn't happen. Liverpool has performed worse, not playing well in the Premier League and being eliminated from both domestic cups."

When asked about his players' statements, Klopp replied: "That's not entirely true, but it's not entirely false either. Of course, we want a fresh start, that's very clear after the 2022 World Cup. So far, it hasn't gone as planned. But we need to keep working."

The 55-year-old head coach apologized to Liverpool fans, congratulated Brighton, and confirmed that he will not be strengthening the squad before the January transfer window closes on the 31st.

On February 4th, Liverpool will be guests of Wolves and then face a derby with Everton on February 13th in the English Premier League.
