Guardiola threatens to leave Manchester City

Pep Guardiola, Man City's coach, spoke out in defense of the club against accusations from the Premier League's organizing body, but he stated that he will leave the club if he is lied to by the club's leadership. Man City is currently facing over 100 accusations of violating financial rules from the Premier League after a 4-year investigation. Penalties could include points deduction, relegation, or even exclusion from the Premier League.

Guardiola threatens to leave Manchester City

In February 2020, UEFA banned Man City from participating in the Champions League for two years, along with a fine of 25 million pounds, for violating financial fair play regulations. However, 5 months later, the ban was lifted and the fine was reduced to 9 million pounds by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Once again, as the storm approaches the club, Pep Guardiola supports Manchester City and believes that there have been no violations from his club. But the Spanish strategist also emphasized that he will leave Etihad immediately if the club's leadership lies to him.

He said: "I said to our people, 'Tell me' about the suspicions. I looked at them and believed them 100 per cent from day one so I defended the club because of that.

"I did say, 'If you lie to me, the day after I am not here. I will be out and you will not be my friend any more'.

"I like to represent a club that is doing things properly. In the end it's not about winning the Champions League or Premier League, it's about always doing it well, for our people and our fans.

"What CAS [Court of Arbitration for Sport] said meant a lot. It broke all the suspicion.

“I can not forget that nine teams in the Premier League pushed to sack Manchester City from European competitions, I know who they are."

Since joining Man City in 2016, Guardiola has won 4 Premier League championships. He has also won the FA Cup and 4 League Cups.
