Everton appoints Sean Dyche as head coach

The 51-year-old former Burnley manager takes the hot seat from Frank Lampard, who was sacked last week with Everton sitting 19th in the Premier League table.

"It's an honor to become the head coach of Everton. I and my coaching staff are ready and eager to help this fantastic club get back on track. I know about the passionate fans of Everton and how much this team means to them.

We're ready to work and give them what they want. It starts with sweat on the shirt, effort, and getting back to some basic principles that Everton has maintained for a long time," Dyche stated during the inauguration ceremony.

Before Dyche, Everton considered Marcelo Bielsa - former manager of Leeds - as the top choice. However, later, it was reported that Bielsa initially wanted to lead Everton's U21 team, while his assistant would coach the first team for the entire 2022/23 season. Everton deemed this not feasible, as they needed a manager capable of helping the club escape relegation.

Dyche has not had a new job since leaving Burnley in April 2022, after nearly 10 years in charge at Turf Moor. At Everton, Dyche will be supported by Ian Woan - a former employee of his at Burnley - as an assistant manager. Additionally, Dyche will have Steve Stone as a first-team coach and Mark Howard as the head of the sports science group.

Dyche's first game as manager of Everton is a Premier League match against Arsenal on February 4th.

Previously, Everton have lost nine of their last 12 Premier League games, a poor record pushing them down to 19th in the table. The Port City team also decided to terminate the contract with coach Frank Lampard, they were patient but the English coach could not help the club out of the crisis.
