On his personal Twitter page, billionaire Elon Musk has announced that he wants to buy back Man Utd from the Glazer family.

Elon Musk wants to buy Man United

The technology billionaire, who has a net worth of £18.75 billion, has reportedly been quietly exploring the possibility of acquiring his favorite football club, Manchester United. Last year, Elon Musk admitted that if he were to buy any football team, it would be Man Utd, which he has loved since he was a child.

‘Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav team as a kid.’

Despite confirming this is just a joke, the richest man in the world still says he is a fan of the most traditional Premier League team.

However, at the time, the American billionaire wasn't really serious about his intention. But now, according to sources from the Daily Mail, Elon Musk is quietly approaching Manchester United. Although the 51-year-old billionaire has not made any official offer, a blockbuster deal is entirely possible.

The deadline for Raine bank to receive bids for the purchase of Man Utd is this Friday. Therefore, Red Devils fans are waiting for Elon Musk's move. If he takes over the club, the American billionaire promises to make extensive reforms, especially in the top management. The Man Utd leadership is said to have been working ineffectively for many years.

In the bid to buy back Man Utd, the Qatar investment group is reportedly in the lead. According to the Daily Mail, Qatar intends to spend between £4.1 billion and £4.5 billion on this deal. This figure is still below the Glazers' expectation of £6 billion.

If the American owners of Man Utd still haven't received a satisfactory offer by the deadline on February 17, they may extend the bid submission period. In the worst-case scenario (not receiving the desired price), the Glazers may retain a minority stake.

Previously, the American owners had put Man Utd up for sale in November. After the World Cup, investors began showing interest in this deal. Man Utd has entrusted Raine bank to receive bids and assess potential investors.
