Following poor results, Chelsea no longer tolerates Potter, and they have already made a move with the chosen name. With the new ownership of Chelsea by Todd Boehly and the end of the Abramovich era, the club has undergone major changes.
Chelsea has spent 600 million pounds in less than a year to buy new talent and also fired Thomas Tuchel, who led them to the Champions League title, to appoint Graham Potter. However, it seems that the English strategist is not the right person to lead the "money-spending" squad at Stamford Bridge.
Potter's poor performance under his previous role as Brighton manager has seen Chelsea drop to ninth place in the English Premier League this season and the 2023/24 Champions League ticket is becoming increasingly distant for them. If Enrique joins Chelsea, he will continue his struggling managerial career since 2017. The 52-year-old coach proved his ability when he led Barcelona to a treble in the 2015 season. Of course, this is exactly what Stamford Bridge hopes to achieve with Enrique.
Currently, negotiations between the two parties are underway. However, a major challenge for The Blues in this deal is that Atletico Madrid also wants to secure Enrique's services to replace Diego Simeone, who is likely to leave Wanda Metropolitano after the end of the season.
